SCHOOL HISTORY

      Gamut National High School is situated at Purok 8, Gamut,  Barobo, Surigao del Sur with School EBEIS ID 304888. The school is about 22 kilometers  away from the district office. 

    The school started to exist in 1974 as barangay high school which had an initial enrolment of eighty (80) first year students thru the initiative of the late Restituta I. Plaza.     
     Years after, enrolment increased which simultaneously made  the first graduates in the school year 1978-1979 with leadership of the Head Teacher, the late Felicisimo Madera.  For them to uplift the school physical and teachers standards and status the school authorities filed an appeal in the conversion of the school from Gamut Barangay High School (GBHS) to Surigao del Sur Institute of Fisheries and Aquaculture (SSIFA) at Gamut, Barobo, Surigao del Sur a satellite of Lianga, Surigao del Sur as its main campus in 1984 thru the effort of the TIC Mr. Joel D. Ganancias, now the retired teacher.Since the late Barangay Captain Gabriel M. Guingue was aware of the urgent needs for the education of children and for the enhancement of  teachers` status.  In 1985, by virtue of R.A. No. 627 authorized by Assemblyman Jose G. Puyat, Jr., the school was converted into Surigao del Sur Polytechnic College (SSPC) Lianga Campus at Gamut, Barobo, Surigao del Sur with its acquired school site of 4.9 hectares thru donation of the Late Manuel G. Sabatin and Amistry Guingue  and  Canota V. Guingue.
